How the Homecare Process Works
A Step by Step guide to how Geneva Health
live-in care works
1. A Geneva Health Care Manager will arrange a
mutually convenient time to come to your home or visit you in the
hospital if applicable, and assess your needs. This home visit will
include an assessment of your needs to determine what level of care
is required, and together we will develop an appropriate care plan
and discuss the responsibilities of the Geneva Health
caregiver.
The home visit is an opportunity for you and your relatives or
representative to ask questions. We will also
discuss what type of carer you would prefer and this will allow
Geneva Health to match the most suitable carer to your temperament
and needs. Following the Home Visit, if we agree that live-in care
is a viable option for your situation, we will prepare a full quote
which details the level of care that we believe is required and the
associated costs.
2. A carer will be selected taking all your
requirements into consideration. Geneva Health will fully brief the
selected carer on your needs and desired level of
companionship.
Prior to placing carers in a position we clearly explain what
conduct is expected from them. This includes but is not limited to;
all personal phone calls should be made on carers personal mobile
phones or via calling cards; and carers should keep a record in the
care plan of what and where they spend any petty cash provided by
the person they are caring for.
It is important to note that we are an introductory agency, and
carers will need additional direction from you or your
representative during their time with you.
3. You will be able to speak to the carer prior
to their start date and Geneva Health will arrange a mutually
convenient time for the carer to arrive at your home.
4. Geneva Health carers will maintain a Care
Plan which details your daily routine and medication and enables
them to assess if your situation changes.
Carers normally work 6 or 7 days a week and require a minimum of
two hours off per day. On occasion carers may request a longer
period of time off. Geneva Health can help with these
arrangements.
Geneva Health carers are able to assist with the occasional
night call, however should the number of night calls increase then
other arrangements will need to be made.
5. We will maintain regular contact with you
and your Geneva Health carer to ensure the smooth delivery of care.
We are also contactable by you, your family or representative and
your carer for support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
6. Following the initial placement, the
departing carer will provide a comprehensive handover to your new
carer or relief carers. The handover and care plan ensures
continuity of care.
